Uniform Supply & Purchase

As HBC continues to grow, we are updating the way we supply uniforms to better align with other community sporting clubs and to ensure long-term sustainability for our volunteers and finances.

Singlets – provided by the Club (on loan)

Shorts – purchased by players

The Club will no longer loan shorts each season. Moving to player-owned shorts reduces ongoing administration, replacement costs and volunteer workload, while providing families with a consistent uniform item across seasons.

Thanks to the generous support of the Bendigo Bank Mundaring Grant, players who currently have a pair of new-style shorts are able to retain those shorts.

If you are a new player, you will need to purchase club shorts for $25 as part of your registration via PlayHQ.

If you are a current player who has lost, damaged or outgrown your shorts, new shorts will also need to be purchased.

Kidsport Vouchers

IMPORTANT- please select Hills Raiders Basketball Association as the approved KidSport club, NOT Helena Basketball Club when registering.

Allocation of Players

As a school-based club, our preference is to enter teams according to the players’ school year groups.

We believe the domestic competition should be focussed on having fun, and this is usually best achieved when the students are able to play with their classmates.

If you are a current member and wondering what division you may go into, it will be based on how many teams we have registered in that age group, and we will hope to have them with friends but also similar abilities.

Typically, teams that are continuing will move up together, even if all the players aren’t quite old enough in the interest of keeping peers together.

However, if you have concerns about your child not moving up, we can consider alternative options.

PLEASE NOTE: After grading has happened in the first few weeks of the season, some teams may be adjusted divisions, however playing day should not change.

We intend to enter teams as follows:

Year 1/2/3 - U10 (girls & mixed) age 6 or over

Year 4 - U12 (boys & girls)

Year 5 - U12 (boys & girls)

Year 6 - U14 (boys & girls)

Year 7- U14 (boys & girls)

Year 8 - U16 (boys & girls)

Year 9 - U16 (boys & girls)

Year 10 - U18 (boys) - senior women’s or U17 girls TBC (girls)

Year 11 - U18 (boys & girls)

Year 12 - U20 (boys)

Year 12 - Senior Women (girls)

Seniors – open to Old Helenians and Parents & Friends of the College.

Volunteering With Helena Basketball Club

Helena Basketball Club is proudly run by volunteers. Our club only operates because of the many parents, players and community members who generously give their time throughout the season.

There are many ways you can get involved, including:

• Coaching a team

• Team managing

• Helping on the committee

• Supporting events or club activities

• Assisting with occasional or ad-hoc tasks during the season

Whether you can contribute regularly or simply lend a hand when needed, every bit of support helps keep the club running smoothly for our players and families.

Volunteer Registration Discount

As a small thank you for your contribution, Helena Basketball Club offers discounted HBC player registration fees to volunteers who take on key roles such as coaches, team managers or committee members.

This discount is available to volunteers who wish to exercise the offer and is our way of recognising the time and effort given to support the club and its players. Can only be used at the time of player registration and not reimbursed if forgotten to use.

If you are interested in volunteering this season, or would like to learn more about how you can help, please reach out to the club. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers into the Helena community.
