About HBC

Helena Basketball Club was founded in 2012 to allow Helena College students to form teams and play in the local domestic basketball competition hosted by Hills Raiders Basketball Association (HRBA).

We commit to having at least 70% Helena student-based teams and invite players from the local community to join our club involving juniors all the way through to senior teams.

We welcome you to join our community to play under our club banner.

⛹️ Equipped to Play: Safe, Inclusive & Ready-to-Train Basketball Resources for Our Community

Proudly Supported by Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank

$5 Million Milestone Grant Round - 2026

In 2026, Helena Basketball Club was awarded $10,000 through Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank’s $5 Million Milestone Grant Round to support our Equipped to Play project.

The project focuses on improving player safety, training quality and volunteer support by investing in essential club resources. Funding has enabled the purchase of new basketballs, flat training markers and other equipment required to support our growing player base.

As part of the project, every player received an HBC-branded cap to support sun safety during outdoor training sessions. These caps have quickly become a favourite among players, with many proudly wearing them not only at training but throughout the local community.

The project has also delivered new coach and volunteer shirts that align with the club’s updated branding while recognising the support of Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank. Designed for long-term use, these shirts help create a professional, consistent and easily identifiable presence at games, training sessions and club events.

This investment helps ensure Helena Basketball Club can continue providing safe, inclusive and high-quality basketball opportunities for local families while supporting the volunteers who make community sport possible.

We thank Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank for their continued support of grassroots sport and our local community.

🏀 HBC Uniform Upgrade

Proudly Supported by Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank

Lightning Grant - 2025

In 2025, Helena Basketball Club was awarded a $14,580.50 Lightning Grant from Community Bank Mundaring – Bendigo Bank Bendigo Bank to support a complete club uniform upgrade.

This project was about more than new jerseys. Our committee worked closely with members to design a uniform that reflected the identity, growth and future direction of Helena Basketball Club. After a community consultation and voting process, a final design was selected and rolled out to every player across the club.

The new reversible singlets have simplified game-day logistics, reduced the need for clash bibs, and improved consistency across all teams. The club also invested in matching shorts, offering male and female fit options to better support the comfort and inclusion of all players.

The feedback from players, families, coaches and officials has been overwhelmingly positive. The uniform upgrade has strengthened club pride, improved player experience and created a consistent visual identity that reflects the spirit of HBC both on and off the court.

We are incredibly grateful to Community Bank Mundaring Bendigo Bank for helping bring this long-term vision to life.

🏀 Thank You, Shire of Mundaring! 🏀

During the Winter 2025 season, Helena Basketball Club continued to grow, so much so that we could no longer fit all our teams into our existing training venues.

Thanks to the support of a Shire of Mundaring Quick Grant, we were able to secure Brown Park Main Hall as an additional training venue. This made it possible for more teams to train regularly and continue developing their skills throughout the season.

The indoor courts at Brown Park also provided a much-needed all-weather option, giving our players a safe and reliable place to train even when the winter weather rolled in.

A big thank you to the Shire of Mundaring for helping us make training more accessible and sustainable for our growing club community. 💙

HBC Coaches Kits.png

You might have noticed something cool.
👉 We’ve upgraded our Coaches' Kits! 🏀 🛄 🏀

Due to significant growth in the team numbers of Helena Basketball Club in the past two years, we required new and additional coaching equipment.

Together with the Shire of Mundaring successful Quick Grant, and Helena Basketball Club fundraising and volunteer efforts we have provided, new fully stocked coaching kits for all of our teams in our expanding club. 🙌

The kits include a whistle, first aid kit, playing bibs, coaches whiteboards, cones, ball pumps and basketball bags. ⭐️

This replaces the previously worn out equipment and provide our many new teams with fully stocked kits, giving all of our coaches the same tools. 👍

That and they look super professional on and around the courts with easy access to everything teams could need at training and on game days. ⛹️‍♂️

We hope you love what we have achieved and are enjoying the new gear. 🤗

Again big thanks for the Quick Grant from the Shire of Mundaring. 🙏

And also huge shout out to those who volunteered their time to create all 33 kits. Massive job! 👏
